The Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) Foundation is seeking a highly motivated Senior Researcher to join our growing team.
The FH Foundation is a patient-centered nonprofit 501(c)3 dedicated to research, advocacy, and education of all forms of familial hypercholesterolemia. Our mission is to raise awareness and save lives by increasing the rate of early diagnosis and encouraging proactive treatment. If left untreated, FH leads to aggressive and premature heart disease.
The Senior Researcher provides strategic direction and substantial content for grant applications, scientific publications, and FH patient- and physician-facing materials in order to:
·      Play a critical role in expanding funding for new and on-going programs
·      Address inquiries from the scientific and medical communities through research-backed content
·      Collaborate on creating abstracts and manuscripts for submissions to peer-reviewed scientific journals
Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Researcher will:
·       Research opportunities and create content for grant applications to potential government agency funders
·       Research grant and award opportunities from scientific, research, and medical foundations that align with our mission and create content for applications
·       Initiate collaborations and maintain relationships with academic institutions and other organizations that would advance our mission
·       Provide timely and accurate information for presentations to internal and external collaborators
The Senior Researcher will be able to work independently and take initiative in grant publications as well as the development and implementation of research. This role requires a self-starter who is very detail-oriented. The ideal candidate will be prepared to juggle concurrent deadlines and tasks.
Qualifications include advanced research training (e.g. Master’s degree, PhD or equivalent). Candidate must be proficient in scientific writing, literature reviews as well grant or application writing. Familiarity with biostatistics and data analysis is essential and candidate must be proficient in SPSS, reference managing software, PowerPoint and Excel. Candidate will be expected to interact with a highly motivated team of academic researchers and staff with varying expertise to generate grants applications, research proposals, scientific papers and presentations.
Residence in the Los Angeles area is required to facilitate face-to-face interactions.
